Hey all, I was thinking about integrating a rating system into the Englipedia website. This rating system would be displayed next to submitters' name on the Volunteer Page, and also possibly next to their name on any page they had a part in creating. This is what I'm currently doing for volunteers on the site: 1. Five submissions and a personalized volunteer page is created. (I'm thinking about upping that number to ten submissions. 2. Ten submissions and a submitter can have the option of uploading a picture. (If the first one get upped, this option will be upped to 15 submissions.) 3. 15 submissions and a submitter has the option of uploading a biography of themselves. (Once again, if everything is upped, this will go up to 20 submissions.) 4. 40 submissions and a little "VIP status" label gets attached to the submitter's name on the general volunteer page. All of these things is my way of showing submitters that their help with the Englipedia project does matter to and everyone using it. However, I want to do a tad bit more. Along the lines of the 'vip status', I want to create a rating system that will let all volunteers on the site know exactly how much they have helped out. I hoping this might create a little incentive to level up their rating. So, I'm wanting to create a rating system that will start when a volunteer reaches 20 submissions. The rating will go next to the volunteer's name on the volunteer page, their individual volunteer page and maybe on every submission they submit. I'm thinking the rating's title will change every 20 submissions. I would change the rating every 10 submissions but I'm pretty much the only person building the site so any extra work makes my personal life non-existent...and then my girlfriend gets pissed off that my mistress (Englipedia) is more important than her....despite her knowing she's is more important than any binary code.... Anyways, my question to all of you is...I need help creating the rating titles. It's worth some 'exalt' points...or, in JunkDna's case, 'smite'. I'm looking suggestions for a set of 6 rating titles. Anybody wanna ring in with some ideas?

Sounds good to me. I could go either way, but I think it is important that peeps are recongized for their efforts.

How many submissions before we`re given cake?
20 Englipedia Submitter 40 Englipedia Friend 60 Englipedia BFF 80 Englipedia Super Best Friend Forever 100 Super Centennial Submitter 120 More Submissions than your Grandma Has Years
I keep coming up with really great but generally inappropriate titles. : P
Also, having not had any coffee today, I`m unable to conjugate or spell. That also might be resultant from the confusion of how I`m supposed to have a class right now, and my JTE is completely MIA. WTF?

HAHAHA
I like that last set.
Also, I know this is a bit out there, but when I read the title I originally thought it was going to be ratings/suggestions/commenting on individual games. Would something like that be possible in a future version of the site? Just an idea. I know that would involve some serious coding...

Would something like that be possible in a future version of the site? Just an idea. I know that would involve some serious coding... Rolly, I'm still working on this. It's much harder to do this on a website than it is a blog, wiki or forum BUT I'm haven't given up...just haven't figured out the details yet. However, currently, there is a rating system for the newer games loaded onto the site. Have you taken a seen this option? If so, have you used it? If so, have you gone back and checked to see if your rating was still there? The reason I ask this last question is because I'm not quite happy with the code for this 'rating'.

Okay, so I wasn`t completely coming up with that on my own. I swore that I read that you`d tried to put that in, but then I kept reading this thread. Awesome! No, I haven`t tried it yet, but I`ll go take a look at it.

To clear up the confusion...
This thread is talking about the 'rating system' that I'm planning to put next to volunteers' names on the Volunteer Page of the site, and possible also next to their name on every activity page they were a part of creating.
The 'rating system' for each game is completely different from what I'm talking about in this thread...BUT BOTH RATING SYSTEMS ARE BEING WORKED ON!

B+ for overuse of capitalization. ; )
I looked at the rating system, and I like it...I know you *probably* don`t need anything else on your plate now, but a way to comment with one`s difficulties/variations with a game would be cool. I can already see how that could be problematic, though... ie, spambots.
Anyway, back to the actual topic: 20 Can use chopsticks 40 Can carry a festival float 60 Can eat natto 80 Can cook miso soup 100 Can stay warm in winter 120 Knows better than to take the JLPT
Not that I`m a little cranky today.
...and not that if I actually go back and look carefully at the game page I won`t notice the convenient link to post in a thread one`s suggestions for game improvements.
It`s not perfect, but you have addressed everything I came up with. Excellent pre-emptive strike. : P

I like this idea:
20 Completely Shut Out ALT 40 Left In The Dark ALT 60 Mistakenly Informed ALT 80 Partially Informed ALT 100 Stole A Glimpse of The Memo ALT 120 Skilled Memo Thief 140+ Finally Knows What's Going On ALT
However, I'm afraid that it would leave any JTEs and/or HRTs out of the circle.
I also like the 'belt' idea but I'm still open for suggestions...

Some of the volunteers one the site aren't even teachers. One of Englipedia's invaluable translators, which currently has a 'VIP status', is a pharmacist. She helps out cuz' she likes and believes in what Englipedia is trying to do.
A lot of the ideas thus far have made me laugh. While I think a lot of them would be funny as hell, I don't think they encompass ALL the volunteers on the site.
The 'belt' idea is still winning...

A pharmacist? Kinky! I vote again for a black belt rating thing. It rules!

I didn't like belt rating system once I saw it on the site. It was a great idea until I saw it in reality, so I redid the rating system. The new one goes like this: 100 posts= 70 posts = 60 posts = 50 posts = 40 posts = 30 posts = 20 posts = 10 posts =

If anyone can think of any other non-sexual icons I can add to the list, please let me know. As it is, one person has already become ninja.
Joyce P. Le is the only person on the website to reach such a status!

Am I the most fickle website builder, or what?
While I like the post recent ranking pictures, one person has already completed the entire system. So, I'm going to be making some minor changes in the near future. I think they will be cool so keep your eyes peeled.
