23. Dondake~ [‚Ç‚ñ‚¾‚¯‚¥`]: This catch-all exclamation of surprise/disbelief/reproach arose from the Shinjuku 2-chome gay community and was popularized by Ikko, a popular transvestite TV personality. Dondake~ can be used in a wide variety of situations, sort of like gReally?!h or gNo way!h Usually said with a slight rising intonation and seasoned with whiny sarcasm. Yeah baby...who's got his thumb on the Japanese slang words? I just created a warm-up game using those ‚Ç‚ñ‚¾‚¯. Too bad I can't speak any real world Japanese. DNA - Your challenge, if you should so choose to accept it, is to create an English game for each of those words.

26. Sen no kaze ni natte [ç‚Ì•—‚É‚È‚Á‚Ä]: Sen no kaze ni natte (hbecome 1,000 windsh) is the title of a song performed by opera singer Masafumi Akikawa. Based on writer Man Araifs translation of gDo Not Stand at My Grave and Weep,h an English-language poem penned by an unknown author, the song has sold more than a million CDs, making Akikawa the most successful opera singer in Japanese history.
This is the song I was made to sing for the school festival. APPARENLTY the Egnlish song is well-known...? I'd never heard of it in my life!

I believe the operative word is 'apparently'. "Apparently" is translated as "Everybody in Japan knows it and therefore EVERYONE should know it and are surprised when they don't."
Sometimes, I just want to carry around a stupid stick and hit people when they say something stupid, like "It's cold" 20 times a day. But, thinking about it, maybe someone has already done that.
The other day a group of teachers were surprised to find out that I DON'T KNOW EVERY Christmas song written in English. A part of me got really frustrated, but then I just hit them with my 'mental' stupid stick and walked away.
