There was a study done between English and Chinese languages. I thought it was appropriate to Japanese because of the kanji connection. It was a pretty interesting article. My favorite line was the last line because the way they explained how English speakers and Chinese speakers see the world, I've thought the very same thing about English and Japanese speakers. In regards to describing a verbal description of something, English speakers start in the center of a picture and build outwards, whereas, Japanese speakers build the entire picture, slowly moving into the center and finishing off with the action. I'm not an expert but I think this is because how the grammar was setup in both languages. English: subject + verb + object. Japanese: subject + object + verb. The ironic thing is Chinese and Japanese seem to view things in the same fashion, BUT the Chinese language has the same grammar format as English. news.yahoo.com/s/ap/20080408/ap_on_he_me/dyslexic_differences
