...suffered slight wounds that are expected to take a week to heal.
I'm on the fence about the details of people's wounds. On one hand sometimes 'light wounds' doesn't cover it, then again, do I really need to know that these same light wounds are going to take a week to heal?
I caught a news report (if you want to call it that, more like something that shouldn't have been news at all but was) about some once-famous actress who got cracked in the nose by a fly ball at a practice ball-throwing at a baseball game.
It broke her nose and she held a NEWS CONFRENCE (what IS it with Japanese geinoujin and their penchant for worthless news confrences??) on with bandages and black eyes. No big deal. Certainly not news.
But the report went on and on and included her informing her husband by phone, to which he replied (and the news report replayed several times): 'You're a tough gal.' Whoop.
The report was finished off with (here it comes) 'her nose will take 2 months to heal'. Like I give a can of rat's sphinters.
