In New Horizon's 2nd grade book on page 41, it teaches the "will" tense. This is a dialog page between a homestay mother and homestayer.
My first problem has to do with the picture. This is supposed to be the homestayer's room in America, however, it looks like something out of a Japanese furniture store room display. I don't ever recall seeing bedroom back home setup for a teenager with a tree in the room, much less a hardwood floor. Usually houses have carpet and are decorated with more teenager looking stuff.
However, I have even a bigger problem when looking at the grammar. This is the first page that introduces this 'will' grammar...BUT, the word 'will' is nowhere to be found in the dialog. I mean, technically, it is on the page but only in contractual form (I'll). In my opinion, on a page that contains grammar points, the grammar point shouldn't be introduced in such a lax form.
Last, I have a problem with the sentence in the dialog that introduces the grammar point: "I'll show you". The kids couldn't stop laughing at this sentence because of the words "show you." They kept translating the sentence as, "Ž„‚Í‚µ‚傤–û‚‚à‚è‚Å‚·B" I think a better word than 'show' would be 'teach' or 'tell'.
Rant finished...
