When I came started working in a new city 1 1/2 years ago, one of my goals was for all the JHS students to write their names correctly in English so I implemented a plan. At one point, I thought I had fixed all the mistakes at one school.
However, this term I have had about 30 classes cancelled and replaced by tests, moral education and general studies classes.
Recently, I've started to have regular classes again and the regression of a simple name fix was astonishing! It's tiring constantly saying, "This is English class. Write your name in English." This leads me to think the students ONLY have to write their names in English in the ALT classes.
This issue almost seems too pedantic but I'm under the opinion that English is easier and better learned if the students are encouraged to think in English in English class. At the point they automatically write their names in kanji or don't reverse their first and last names, to me this says they aren't being encouraged on a constant basis.
What do you think? Do you think students should have to write their names in English in every English class and not just classes the ALT attends?

I agree, furthermore, I want to know what the hell is up with the BLOCK LETTER CAPITALS ON LAST NAMES! If you write your name the correct way in English, I won't need the use of block letters.
